Manchester Airport Pick-Up and Drop-Off: Every Terminal

Written and maintained by the minicabit editorial team.

Last updated 15/10/2026.

Picking someone up from Manchester Airport or dropping them off is now simpler than it used to be, but the rules depend on whether you are using Terminal 2 or Terminal 3. Terminal 1 closed in March 2026, leaving Manchester Airport with two active passenger terminals.

Manchester Airport uses designated pick-up and drop-off areas, with different locations, time limits and charges depending on what you need. This guide covers where to go at each terminal, the current charges, how to pay and what to expect when using a pre-booked minicab for a Manchester Airport taxi.

At a glance

  • Manchester Airport currently operates passenger flights from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. Terminal 1 is closed.
  • Terminal 2 drop-off costs £5.50 for five minutes, £6.50 for ten minutes or £25 for up to 30 minutes.
  • Terminal 2 Express Pick Up costs £6.60 for up to 15 minutes.
  • Terminal 2 Pick Up is signposted as P3.
  • Terminal 3 passenger pick-up takes place in the designated Pick Up Zone within the T3 Multi Storey, now signposted P14.
  • Drop-off and barrierless pick-up payments must generally be made by midnight the day after the visit.
  • A free drop-off area is also available, with a 24/7 shuttle service to the terminals.
  • When you pre-book an airport pickup through minicabit, the booking includes 45 minutes of free waiting time and Meet and Greet inside Arrivals.

How Manchester Airport pick-up and drop-off works

Manchester Airport has separate areas for dropping passengers off and collecting them. It is important to use the correct area because the terminal forecourts are designed for quick drop-offs rather than passenger collections.

The airport warns that vehicles attempting to pick passengers up from a drop-off zone can receive a £100 charge.

Before travelling, check whether the passenger is using Terminal 2 or Terminal 3. Manchester Airport states that Terminal 2 now handles all airlines except Ryanair, while Terminal 3 is used for Ryanair flights. Passengers should still check their airline or booking confirmation before travelling in case arrangements change.

Manchester Airport Terminal 2 pick-up

For Manchester Airport Terminal 2 pick-up, drivers using the Express Pick Up Zone should follow signs for P3.

The Terminal 2 Express Pick Up area has a maximum stay of 15 minutes and currently costs £6.60. The postcode provided by Manchester Airport for the pick-up area is M90 5PR.

Vehicles must not be left unattended in the Express Pick Up Zone. If you expect to need more than 15 minutes, or need to enter the terminal building, Manchester Airport advises using the Short Stay parking area instead.

Drivers staying beyond the 15-minute maximum in Terminal 2 Express Pick Up can incur a £60 overstay charge.

Terminal 2 pick-up charges

Time Current charge
Up to 15 minutes £6.60

For longer stays, the airport’s Turn Up & Park tariffs apply. Current published prices include £8.60 for up to 30 minutes, £10.10 for up to 45 minutes and £13.20 for up to one hour.

If you are collecting someone from a delayed flight, avoid entering the Express Pick Up area too early. The short 15-minute limit means it is better to coordinate collection once the passenger is ready.

Manchester Airport Terminal 2 drop-off

Terminal 2 has dedicated drop-off areas close to the terminal.

The current Manchester Airport Terminal 2 drop-off charges are:

Time Current charge
Up to 5 minutes £5.50
Up to 10 minutes £6.50
Up to 30 minutes £25

The maximum stay is 30 minutes. Payment must be made online by midnight on the day after the visit.

The Terminal 2 drop-off postcode is M90 5PH.

Manchester Airport provides two Terminal 2 drop-off options. The upper forecourt is directly next to the main check-in hall, while the lower forecourt is on Arrivals level with lifts providing access to Departures. The lower forecourt has a 2.0-metre height restriction.

If you are travelling by pre-booked minicab, your driver can take you directly to the appropriate terminal drop-off point, avoiding the need to navigate airport parking yourself.

Manchester Airport Terminal 3 pick-up

Manchester Airport Terminal 3 pick-up takes place in the designated Pick Up Zone within the Terminal 3 Multi Storey car park.

The car park is now signposted as P14, so drivers familiar with the older “T3 Multi Storey” name should look for P14 signage when approaching the airport.

Manchester Airport’s published Turn Up & Park tariff for its terminal multi-storey pick-up areas currently starts at £6.60 for up to 15 minutes, increasing according to the length of stay.

Terminal 3 pick-up charges

Time Current charge
Up to 15 minutes £6.60
Up to 30 minutes £8.60
Up to 45 minutes £10.10
Up to 1 hour £13.20
Up to 2 hours £21.90
Up to 3 hours £32.90

Terminal 3 uses a different parking setup from the barrierless Terminal 2 P3 car park. Manchester Airport states that drivers entering T3 Multi Storey P14 take a token at the entrance and can pay at the automatic payment machines or at the exit barrier.

If you are meeting an arriving passenger yourself, check that they have collected their luggage and are ready before entering the short-stay collection area where possible.

Manchester Airport Terminal 3 drop-off

Terminal 3 also has a dedicated forecourt drop-off area for passengers travelling from the terminal.

Manchester Airport groups Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 within its current Pick Up & Drop Off system, with quick drop-offs available outside Departures.

Current airport information lists the short drop-off tariff as £5.50 for five minutes, £6.50 for ten minutes and £25 for stays of up to 30 minutes.

Drivers should follow the latest Terminal 3 and Drop Off signs when approaching the airport, rather than relying solely on older sat-nav instructions, as Manchester Airport introduced new terminal and parking signage in March 2026.

What happened to Manchester Airport Terminal 1?

Manchester Airport Terminal 1 closed in March 2026 as part of the airport’s wider transformation programme. Manchester Airport now describes itself as a two-terminal airport, with the majority of passengers using Terminal 2 and Ryanair operating through Terminal 3.

That means there is no longer a standard Manchester Airport Terminal 1 pick-up or drop-off process for departing or arriving passenger flights.

If you previously used Terminal 1, do not automatically head for the old T1 collection or drop-off area. Check the passenger’s airline or booking confirmation first and use either Terminal 2 or Terminal 3 as shown.

There is one detail worth knowing for Ryanair passengers: Manchester Airport says the former Terminal 1 check-in hall remains in use for Ryanair check-in, before passengers continue through to the Terminal 3 Departures Lounge.

How to pay Manchester Airport pick-up and drop-off charges

Manchester Airport now uses barrierless payment for its main drop-off areas and Terminal 2 Express Pick Up.

You can pay online after your visit or set up AutoPay so an eligible visit is charged automatically. Payment for the barrierless areas is due by midnight on the day after the visit.

Payment can also be made by phone on 0345 901 3318. Cash and cheque are not accepted for the barrierless pick-up and drop-off areas, and there are no exit payment barriers in those zones.

If payment is not made by the deadline, Manchester Airport states that a £100 Parking Charge Notice may be issued, reduced to £60 when paid within 14 days.

Terminal 3 P14 Multi Storey operates differently. For Turn Up & Park use, drivers take a token on entry and can pay at an automatic payment machine or at the exit barrier.

Is there a free drop-off area at Manchester Airport?

Yes. Manchester Airport provides a free drop-off area for passengers who do not need to be left directly outside the terminal.

A free 24/7 shuttle runs between the free drop-off area and the airport terminals.

For a pre-booked minicab journey, being dropped directly at the appropriate terminal is generally the more straightforward option because you and your luggage can be taken to the terminal rather than transferring onto the airport shuttle.

Blue Badge pick-up and drop-off at Manchester Airport

Passengers with a valid Blue Badge can use Manchester Airport’s forecourt Drop Off Zone free of charge for drop-off only. The travelling passenger must show their Blue Badge to the traffic marshals when entering the area.

Pick-up arrangements are different.

At Terminal 2, Blue Badge passengers should use the Express Pick Up Zone, which has a 15-minute maximum stay. For longer collections or where someone needs to enter the terminal, the airport recommends the Short Stay area.

At Terminal 3, passenger collection takes place in the designated bays in the P14 Terminal 3 Multi Storey Pick Up Zone. Standard pick-up charges apply.

Picking up from Manchester Airport with a pre-booked minicab

A pre-booked minicab removes much of the coordination involved in arranging an airport collection.

When booking a Manchester Airport pickup through minicabit, enter the correct terminal and your flight details. For airport pickups, bookings include 45 minutes of free waiting time and Meet and Greet, with the driver waiting inside Arrivals with a name board.

The driver tracks your flight, so if it is delayed, they arrive 30 minutes after the new landing time.

That means you do not need to arrange a precise roadside meeting in one of Manchester Airport’s short-stay pick-up zones after landing.

minicabit also lets you compare and pre-book airport transfers across the UK, with fixed quotes shown before booking.

What happens if your flight is delayed?

If you have booked a Manchester Airport taxi through minicabit, the driver tracks the flight rather than relying solely on the original scheduled landing time.

If the flight is delayed, the driver arrives 30 minutes after the new landing time. Airport pickups also include 45 minutes of free waiting time.

This is particularly useful at Manchester Airport, where the standard Terminal 2 Express Pick Up zone only allows a 15-minute stay.

If you need to change your pickup time yourself, you can update your booking online. Free cancellation through minicabit applies before the booking’s cancellation cut-off time, which is shown clearly when booking.

Tips for Manchester Airport pick-up and drop-off

Check the terminal before setting off. Manchester Airport now has two passenger terminals, so older instructions referring to Terminal 1 may no longer be correct.

For passenger collections, avoid using the drop-off forecourt. Manchester Airport can issue a £100 charge to vehicles attempting to collect passengers from the Drop Off zone.

If you are using Terminal 2 Express Pick Up, wait until the passenger is close to being ready before entering because the zone has a 15-minute maximum stay.

Pay attention to the airport’s newer P-number signage. Terminal 2 Pick Up is P3 and Terminal 3 Multi Storey is P14.

If you are travelling by minicab, include the correct terminal and flight details when booking so your driver can plan the appropriate airport pickup.
